It is argued that the difference between a pseudocleft sentence and its canonical counterpart should be represented at some level closer to semantics and not entirely at pragmatics. The current approach is shown to be able to offer a partial solution to the so-called connectivity effects in pseudoclefts, which is essentially the same treatment as that of \"donkey sentences\" in a dynamic setting.
