Results of the survey were in line with expectations, howeverthere were also some noteworthy results. In particular the fact that as many as1/4 of the students with experience in Japan would have trouble with question andrequest patterns was unexpected. This may be due to differences in the teachingmaterials and methods used during their instruction.
