And it had been proposed that -reba form tends to be used in written language, whereas -tara form is preferred in colloquial expressions.\nIn this study, the analysis of -reba form has been conducted with groups of preceding verbs and co-occurring expressions in the consequent clauses. The Corpus of Everyday Japanese Conversation (CEJC) provided by National Institute for Japanese Language and Linguistics was utilized to extract -reba examples in natural conversation. The result shows that there is a divergence of usage between -reba form introduced in Japanese language textbooks as a typical conditional sentence, and -reba form spoken unconsciously in daily conversation.
